Kit Williams

I was a bit surprised of that I haven't posted about Kit Williams yet.

I was so impressed by The Masquerade, and I love the Moon Hare.

And I do like other things he has done. His work has that realism I admire, with touch of magic and fantasy to make it great illustrations, in my mind. Here's a bit more examples of his work. He is not only a great painter, he is also an excellent artisan, craftsman. I love how he combines the woodwork frames with the painting into a unique piece of art.

Once upon a time I saw this amazing piece of art

It was named "Brigid", but no information about the artist was given.

Then, some time later, I saw these little pieces of the Greek goddesses:

Again, no artist.

Today I saw this:

No artist.

But, it's Madeleine L'Engle's time warp quintet, so the information of the cover art is in Wikipedia, no less.
And googling "Leo Diane Dillon" revealed to me, that this artist couple is responsible for those other pieces as well! YAHOO!!!

Oh, they are amazing... their style varies from rather realistic to rather abstract - I suppose it depends on which one of the artists has more to say about the work. They are all amazing. I love all of them.

Aleksander Lindeberg

Funny thing happened today. I was looking at pictures by Rudolf Koivu at Pinterest, and found one by Aleksander Lindeberg. I looked at the picture and thought "this guy has taken a lot of inspiration from the guy who illustrated Pessi and Illusia" (Pessi and Illusia is a Finnish fairy tale book, about a little troll called Pessi (short of pessimist) and a little fairy called Illusia (short of illusionist), who meet and fall in love during the Finnish part of WWII. The story blends in teaching of nature and animals, and also the effects of war on the nature, and it is really an amazing book.)

So I went to see who had illustrated Pessi and Illusia.
