Fred's "real" name was Frederick Little Packer (1886 - 1956)
He worked in advertising only shortly, but his ads are amazing!
The colors are just amazing, and the lines... mmm... and the different fabrics and prints and patterns... yummy!

THE FOLLOWING IS NOT BY PACKER, AS FAR AS I KNOW!
They are here as part of the theme, Art Deco ads.
Sorry for the confusion.
Sorry for the confusion.
Here's an old Palmolive ad, I don't know who made it, but it kind of fits.
Wonderful, colorful Egypt poster by "Hassan"
Steven Thomas Neptune travel advertisement poster, made in the style of art deco posters, like the ones following (by A. M. Cassandre)
Really fantastic!!! Thanks so much for this images.
ReplyDeleteImages of slaves in some of the posters.
ReplyDeleteWhere did you find the images you show in this post? I'm trying to track down a print of this image, http://media-cache-cd0.pinimg.com/originals/ed/b5/a8/edb5a89e4efe382aca94771c6f3c4428.jpg, which is reportedly also by Frederick L Packer.
ReplyDeleteI find the images online, I'm sorry to say.
ReplyDeleteI would say that image is by Fred Packer, and it's in public domain, so you can find a good quality photo online and go make yourself a poster, for example at Zazzle.com... now, the photo might not be copyright free, though, but if you just want a print of the image, that shouldn't be a problem.
You can also save a good quality photo on a memory stick and take it to a print company where you live, and have your poster that way. Ask about the file format and resolution requirements to get a good quality poster.
The posters of the two luxury liners are by A. M. Cassandre, one of the most famous poster artists of the Art Deco era. The Palmolive Soap ad with the black slave and the odalisque looks like it might be George Lepape but without a signature, it's a little difficult to know for sure. Cheers, Stephan
ReplyDeleteThank you, Stephan! I appreciate your knowledge very much :-)
